Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Phoenix Aviation Ltd (PAL), FSG’s medical evacuation arm, was formed in 1994 and has consistently delivered quality services and the highest level of professionalism to our clients. Our clients include Oil and Gas Producers (OGP), the United Nations (UNSOA/UNSOS, UNDP, UNMIS), and numerous VIP Travel Management organizations managing the travel for Fortune 500 customers. Since 2008 Phoenix has carried out over 2800 medevac cases out of Somalia, and has conducted numerous passenger flights without incident due in part to our robust safety system and access to real time threat assessment data via UN and our on ground team in Mogadishu and Djibouti. In October 2008, PAL became the first fixed wing private air charter company in Africa to be awarded with an ISO accreditation – ISO 9001:2008 – under the scope of supply for provision of domestic, regional and international charter flights, aircraft maintenance and worldwide medical air ambulance charter for both UKAS (UK accreditation) and ANAB (US accreditation).

A component of our risk reduction to our client base is that PAL brings a fulltime staff of 14 flight deck crew, each with many years of experience operating in Africa and surrounding areas. All crew are trained to the highest European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards at Flight Safety International, Farnborough, UK.  PAL owns and operates its own Maintenance and Repair Organization (MRO), approved by the Kenyan, Ugandan, Tanzanian, and Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authorities. Our team of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) and mechanics are trained locally, the US, or the UK, and work as an affective team that enables PAL to retain a dispatch reliability of over 99.5%.

Our jet fleet aircraft are EU Ops 1 compliant, equipped with Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS II C/7 or 7.1), Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Systems (EGPWS), Weather Radar/storm scopes, 406 MHz Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELT), and Skytrac satellite flight following systems. Phoenix received EASA Third Country Operator (TCO) approval in January 2017 enabling us to dispatch passenger and air ambulance flights from any location directly into Europe. The Phoenix management team and our key personnel have over 150 years of combined experience developing passenger (PAX), cargo, and casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) solutions across some of the most arduous and high-risk environments in Africa. The Phoenix risk analysis processes, cargo and passenger movement solutions, real-time tracking of assets, and 24/7/365 customer response protocols are founded and memorialized in corporate policies and continually updated for relevance.

Up to date, Phoenix has operated over 10,000 medical evacuations within Africa, Middle East, Asia, Europe and as far as Australia. We currently have one of our Jet’s , Citation Bravo in Mogadishu, Somalia in support of UNSOS, Foreign Embassies and NGO’s operating in Mogadishu.
