Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Phoenix Aviation Ltd (PAL), FSG’s medical evacuation arm, was formed in 1994 and has consistently delivered quality services and the highest level of professionalism to our clients. Our clients include Oil and Gas Producers (OGP), the United Nations (UNSOA/UNSOS, UNDP, UNMIS), and numerous VIP Travel Management organizations managing the travel for Fortune 500 customers. Since 2008 Phoenix has carried out over 2800 medevac cases out of Somalia, and has conducted numerous passenger flights without incident due in part to our robust safety system and access to real time threat assessment data via UN and our on ground team in Mogadishu and Djibouti. In October 2008, PAL became the first fixed wing private air charter company in Africa to be awarded with an ISO accreditation – ISO 9001:2008 – under the scope of supply for provision of domestic, regional and international charter flights, aircraft maintenance and worldwide medical air ambulance charter for both UKAS (UK accreditation) and ANAB (US accreditation).
A component of our risk reduction to our client base is that PAL brings a fulltime staff of 14 flight deck crew, each with many years of experience operating in Africa and surrounding areas. All crew are trained to the highest European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards at Flight Safety International, Farnborough, UK. PAL owns and operates its own Maintenance and Repair Organization (MRO), approved by the Kenyan, Ugandan, Tanzanian, and Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authorities. Our team of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) and mechanics are trained locally, the US, or the UK, and work as an affective team that enables PAL to retain a dispatch reliability of over 99.5%.
